Aiki Shotokan Karate Jutsu is an independent, family friendly dojo for adults and children from 5 years old. The dojo is led and organised by dedicated local instructors wholly interested in the promotion of good karate and karate for self defence (karate jutsu). We are proud members of the British Combat Karate Association.
Karate Classes are held throughout the week at Beaulieu Community Centre and Holy Trinity Church Centre (Springfield). We also offer beginners self defence classes on Saturday mornings at Beaulieu Community Centre for those that want to study martial arts for self defence but don’t want to join the main karate club.
Maps for venues with class times can be found under our where we train section.
Our costs are transparent and can be viewed in our costs section.
Aiki Shotokan Karate welcome beginners and we invite you to contact us to organise your first FREE trial lesson. If you enjoy your FREE trial lesson you will be able to attend up to another month of free classes before joining the dojo fully. This allows you to check karate is for you and enables us to see if you are right for our dojo.
Our training is based on the karate jutsu principle exploring the function and practical application of karate for self defence.
This is achieved using the traditional mix of basics, form and partner sparring alongside impact padwork, combination drills, the use of anti-bullying/self defence strategies and selective weapons training. Our training will give you a complete study of karate for modern day self defence encompassing striking, kicking, joint locks, grappling, throwing and pressure point application to name but a few.
Through time our training regimes naturally encourage health and well-being benefits for those at all levels of fitness.
All aspects are taught by our own experienced instructors or external specialists as required.
Students train using a syllabus as a framework at each level, slowly building competence and confidence.
Aiki Shotokan Karate is part of a friendly network of organisations both locally and nationally that work in co-operation to run seminars and courses.
